Upon arrival, you are free at leisure. Post-dusk, we recommend two memorable introductions to this dynamic city. Buzzing Lan Kwai Fong is one of Hong Kong’s liveliest nightlife hotspots, infectiously fun and crammed with dozens of late-night bars and restaurants. Alternatively, head down to Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong’s stunning centrepiece, the natural boundary between Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon peninsula. Along the waterfront, experience the nightly “Symphony of Lights”, the world’s largest permanent light and sound show. Marvel at the iconic harbourfront sky scrapers on both shores, transformed into an audio-visual extravaganza.
Traverse the Cross-Harbour Tunnel. One of the world’s greatest deep-water harbours, Victoria Harbour has greatly contributed to Hong Kong’s status as a world-class metropolis. Head to Victoria Peak, at 554m (1817ft)-high, the island’s highest point and legendary landmark. Climb aboard the Peak Tram, one of the world’s oldest funicular railways, which has made this gravity-defying ascent since 1888. At the Peak summit, enjoy spectacular 360-degree views across the city. Continue south to Aberdeen, a traditional fishing village and bustling harbour, renowned for its photogenic fishing junks and floating restaurants. Explore the quaint seaside village of Stanley and its charming market. Our day concludes at Kowloon’s stunning Wong Tai Sin Temple, where Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism are jointly worshipped.
Ride a ferry across Victoria Harbour to Lantau Island, Hong Kong’s largest island and a popular getaway for its natural beauty and diverse attractions. Visit Cheung Sha Beach, one of Hong Kong’s loveliest beaches and Tai O Village, a stilt-house fishing community. Make the winding mountainside drive up to Ngong Ping plateau. At the summit stands Tian Tan Buddha, or Big Buddha, at 34m (111ft)-high, the world’s tallest seated bronze Buddha statue. Explore nearby Po Lin Monastery, one of Hong Kong’s most revered Buddhist monasteries and enjoy a hosted vegetarian lunch. At the culturally-themed Ngong Ping Village, take a scenic cable-car ride down the plateau, revealing stupendous mountain and coastal views.
Free at leisure until the transfer to Hong Kong International Airport for your onward flight.
