Arrive in Hiroshima and begin the journey with lunch featuring okonomiyaki, the city’s most famous local specialty. In the afternoon, explore Hiroshima’s most symbolic landmarks, starting with the Genbaku Dome and Peace Memorial Park, both closely linked to the city’s history and enduring message of peace. Continue to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, where a deeper understanding of the city’s past and remarkable recovery comes into focus. The day concludes at Orizuru Tower, offering a more contemporary perspective and panoramic views over the city.
Today is dedicated to exploring Miyajima, one of Hiroshima’s most iconic destinations. The highlight of the day is Itsukushima Shrine, renowned for its striking red torii gate appearing to float on the water and regarded as one of Japan’s most recognisable scenic landmarks. Afterwards, enjoy time along Miyajima Omotesando Shopping Street, discovering local snacks, souvenirs and the island’s lively atmosphere, before continuing to Miyajima Public Aquarium for a lighter, family-friendly encounter with the region’s marine life. As evening falls, watch the torii gate glow gold beneath the setting sun, one of the most memorable moments of the Hiroshima experience.
The third day brings a different side of Hiroshima with an excursion to Okunoshima, better known as Rabbit Island. Surrounded by peaceful natural scenery, the island offers a quiet, relaxing atmosphere made even more distinctive by the many rabbits roaming freely throughout the area. This day trip adds a unique, charming contrast to the historical and cultural experiences of the previous days, offering a gentler, more playful view of Hiroshima.
After breakfast, enjoy some time at leisure before departing Hiroshima and continuing onward.
